New Politics – Summer Session Number 3

Talk about coming out of the gate with momentum! New Politics don’t even have an album out yet, but are on the verge of going Top 20 at alternative radio with the song “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” To show commitment to what they are setting out to do, they relocated from Cophenhagen, Denmark to Brooklyn, NY.

Interest in New Politics pretty much started when the trio of David Boyd, Soren H. and Poul Amaliel were one of four bands to win the Karrire Kanonen competition which eventually gave them a spot playing Denmark’s Spot Festival in May of last year. Strangely enough, they had to “form a band” just to play this festival! That’s when David & Soren brought in Poul on drums and decided against having a bassist. Just seeing what they did in our studio and the energy they exhibited, I can only imagine what people think when they see them in a legit stage setting. Lead singer and all-about acrobat David Boyd will get you tired by just watching him. I joked to him that he won’t be doing what he does on-stage when he’s fifty. I hope he proves me wrong!

The debut album, also called “Yeah Yeah Yeah,” will hit shelves on July 13th. They will be back in the states to do a tour that will start on July 11th and right now take them through the middle of August. Looking at the list of venues, like The Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA and The Mercury Lounge in NYC, I’m thinking the way this story is building, many of these clubs will be packed to the walls!
