edharcourt Last.fm Recommends: Ed Harcourt

Straight Outta’ East Sussex comes British singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt,  who already claims four critically acclaimed albums as part of his repertoire.  We are checking out his latest work Lustre; click through to find out more and have a listen!

Fans of Rufus Wainwright, Pete Yorn, Ben Kweller, Jeff Buckley, & even some of Elliot Smith‘s work will likely enjoy Ed Harcourt.  Some would even say his songs are reminiscent of Tom Waits in his creation of folky-blues songs with very literal & narrative deveopment.

Lastfm.com subscribers also tag Ed Harcourt as ‘chillout,’ ‘melancholic’ and ‘love at first listen.’  His albums Here Be Monsters, From Every Sphere, The Beautiful Lie & Strangers were very well received by both his tightly-knit fan-base as well as critics.  Here Be Monsters features his mega-hit (as well as top scrobbled track on Last.fm charts)  “Apple of My Eye”

His latest work Lustre is quickly gathering steam on Last.fm, jumping it’s title track up to the #2 most scrobbled track already.  Here Ed Harcourt explains his album Lustre track by track

In his career Ed (besides being a headliner himself), has also played support for artists such as REM, Wilco and Neil Finn. Tune in to Lastfmdiscover to have a listen to some more tunes by Ed Harcourt and while you are at it we strongly Recommend you check out Aqualung & Brendan Benson.
