Artist Of The Week: Minus The Bear

Minus The Bear‘s latest album Omni, their first for Dangerbird Records, is easily one of the most played records on Last.fm Discover. It’s not often in this day and age, that an album has eight songs that belong on the radio.

After completing Onmi, Minus The Bear shopped it around looking for a label that would “understand it,” and wouldn’t want to change it. Dangerbird became that label, the one they would be most comfortable with. “ I think Planet Of Ice was a bit darker and this record is a bit brighter. It opens up those emotion of Spring, Summer and warmth.
” Dave Knudson They brought in Grammy Award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli, the first time they went outside their own camp since 2002′s debut album Highly Refined Pirates, when they used Steve Fisk. (Band member/producer Matt Bayles would leave after Planet Of Ice).

They recently wrapped up the second leg of a North American tour and played at Lollapalooza this past weekend. They head overseas to be a part of seven festivals this month. On October 29th, they head to New Orleans City Park for Voodoo Experience.
