Wintersleep – Summer Session Number 10

New Inheritors is the fourth full-length album from the Canadian band Wintersleep. Led by vocalist Paul Murphy, the band took time off their bustling tour schedule to hit our studios for a chat and live performance.
Click through to see the band perform and talk about songs “New Inheritors,” “Preservation,” and “Terrible Man” from the latest album, as well as “Weighty Ghost” from 2007′s Welcome To The Night Sky.
Wintersleep Performs: Photos New Inheritors, produced by Tony Doogan, was released in mid-May of this year. Much of it was written while touring in support of the previous album Welcome To The Night Sky. One of those gigs included an opening slot for Sir Paul McCartney‘s Halifax Common show on July 11th of last year. They all headed into the studio to begin work on the follow-up in September. Following a tour that will take them to Germany, The Netherlands, England, Belgium, Ireland and Switzerland, they’ll join The Hold Steady starting on September 20th for a U.S. tour that will run through October 7th. Then it’s back north to the home country for a slew of dates.
Here they are performing live in the Last.fm Discover studios – click “play” and enjoy.

Wintersleep absolutely rocks; but you guys did an absolutely awful job mixing them.

I hate to be “that guy” but does anyone agree that Wintersleep have totally changed and the magic that was the first 3 albums is gone? Europop makes more money I guess. Personally i’m hoping they come back strong next time with the intensity and uniqueness which made them great.

Just like every other Wintersleep album, you have to listen to it several times to catch the magic which makes “New Inheritors” as good as any of their other LP’s… besides, if you don’t like the new album, then you don’t like the band, do you?
