Tokyo Police Club – Summer Session Number 12

Prior to the release of their second full-length album Champ, Tokyo Police Club came to the Last.fm Discover studio in NYC and shared this new material with us. The album, produced by Rob Schnapf, shows us a band that has matured greatly from the early days when they started messing about for fun in keyboardist Graham Wright’s basement.
Check out Dave Monks (vocals/bass), Graham Wright (keyboards), Josh Hook (guitar) and Greg Alsop (drums) as they unveil exclusive studio performances of “Wait Up (Boots Of Danger),” “End Of A Spark” and “Hands Reversed.”
Tokyo Police Club went into the studio for Champ with a healthy amount of songs and song ideas, with a handful dating back 2-3 years. As they told us, they are “good at keeping musical ideas floating in the air, always to be used later.”
Tokyo…
It’s been pretty busy for the band on the road for the past handful of months, supporting Passion Pit for some dates, headlining their own tour and playing at Bonnaroo. Following two Canadian festival appearances this weekend (9/4 & 9/5), they do a brief North American headline tour 9/21 – 10/3. Next up, Filter Magazine’s Culture Collide festival on the 10th of October in Los Angeles. 10/14-10/19 has them supporting The New Pornographers followed by opening slots for Phoenix in Montreal, Toronto and Chicago, 10/21, 10/22 and 11/1, respectively.

They seem more lively during this acoustic session than the one they did in Seattle. Though that is probably because they were on tour (when they played in seattle) and were tired. And they filmed this before the tour.
