KT Tunstall – Summer Session Number 13

KT Tunstall is set to release her brand-new album Tiger Suit on October 5th. She paid a very special visit to our studio to premiere some of her new material for us. Recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin, it’s produced by Jim Abbiss. After meeting him, Tunstall discovered a really similar kinship to rhythm, sound and melody.

With Tiger Suit, KT Tunstall set out to basically completely disconnect with any self-imposed pressure of what was expected from her. She needed to cut loose from caring about what fans wanted, what her label wanted, what her manager wanted, what mother and father wanted. She wanted to just try what KT wanted to try. She spent a year writing and also re-discovered her passion for dance music. Hence, when she met with producer Jim Abbiss she said “I want to sound like Eddie Cochran working with Leftfield.”

KT has once again teamed up with long-time collaborators Martin Terefe and Jimmy Hogarth, and also hooked up with Linda Perry and Greg Kurstin for the songwriting on Tiger Suit.. KT tells us that co-writing is always an interesting playground. It’s a place where she creates fantastic, imaginative things that she wouldn’t have done on her own.
