Tiga Remixes LCD Soundsystem “I Can Change”

With a remix resume that’s a Who’s Who of chart toppers, electro DJ/Producer/Remix extraordinaire Tiga is a supernova of creatively reprocessed brilliance where he applies his signature production skills and electro-punk sensibilities to a dizzying list of tracks — the most recent (I’ve seen) being LCD Soundsystem‘s “I Can Change.”
Ask any electro fan who really brought the genre back into the frontal lobe of dance music collectively, and they’ll tell you it was Felix da Housecat with his 2002 artist album Thee Kittenz & Thee Gliz. But actually, the waify whiteboy known as Tiga whizzed past confused electronic music fans in an androgynous blaze of lip-glossed glory with his Montreal Mixed Emotions two-cd set one year earlier. It didn’t quite make the dent it deserved – likely because it was just a mix – but it was one of the first compilations of the millennium that dedicated an entire disc to true-form electro. He’s like a cooler Boy George who produces sassy beats that just make sense coming from such an eccentric, but then again, Montreal never spits out anything short of fabulous.
Below I’ve included some of my personal favorite Tiga remixes. Enjoy!
