The moment I heard Athlete would be playing only one gig in 2009 and it would be in NYC, I had to make sure we got them in our studio for a session. They took time out of their brief stop to do a Discover session on Nov. 4, 2009, the day following their Bowery Ballroom show the night before. (As a nice bonus, The Postelles opened that show). At our session, the guys did four songs from the lastest album Black Swan Song, plus the chilling “Wires.” Following that, Joel, Carey, Tim, Stephen and I sat around and chatted.
