Musician and actor Christian Kane, along with co-hort Steve Carlson bring the country-rock to the Last.fm Discover studio early in the morning in mid-December of last year. Christian’s new album The House Rules was released the previous week, co-produced by a man who knows rock pretty damn well, Bob Ezrin. Watch the two doing “Let Me Go” with Christian giving us the story behind the it.
“Let Me Go” live at Last.fm Discover.
Tomorrow we will feature Christian and Steve doing “One More Shot.”

Some of my favorite versions of Kane songs are just Chris and Steve and their acoustic guitars. Chris has a fabulous voice that unfortunately isn’t at its best here. First time I have heard a hint of hoarseness and it was definitely affecting the normally rich and smooth delivery and also his range. After following the demanding tour he has been on and the times he performed in rain, snow and bitter cold I’m not surprised that at this point the voice suffered accordingly. If you haven’t heard his other cuts of this song, you have to sample them. His vocals are incredible.

Yeah, I was hoping his voice wouldn’t fall apart, but he held up well here.

I agree completely with everything you said, Kathryn. Both Chris and Steve are incredibly talented on their own, and when combined there is a special chemistry. I love all the accoustic versions of the songs, not just the duo, but there aren’t that many vids available with the whole band going accoustic!
This particular song sounds great in many incarnations, but the version on The House Rules album shows his voice off to it’s best advantage, with him singing the woman’s part in a much softer, higher register. His throat obviously couldn’t pull that off here, and I think trying to (for the sake of his listeners) put more strain on his voice than it could take and ended up with the hoarse vocals. Let’s face it, he gives 110% to everything he does, and sometimes trying so hard can backfire. But, it’s just one more reason we love him!

After seeing Kane and Carlson perform with the entire band so many times, it’s kinda cool to see the acoustic versions, too. It’s always nice to hear Christian tell the history behind his songs, makes it more personal. I love these guys and am glad to see you playing them.

I so hope this is the next song you do a video for. The story in the song just begs for it to be one. I’m so glad that you were given this song, I don’t think anyone could have done this song any better than you and I’m sure he was glad to have taken the chance on you and allowed you to put it on your CD. Awesome job!

This song is so beautiful when its performed acoustically. You can really hear the soulful heartache so much more when he sings it.
I also love that he followed around his friend/songwriter until he gave him the song. Guess Christian *really* wanted this song. Thankfully!

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I love hearing the stories behind the songs – the only thing that’s missing on the album. This song and all the others on the album are fantastic.

So glad Christian persisted and got this song–no one could sing it better! Love it when Christian & Steve do these sets. The fact that I haven’t heard a single song that Christian sings that I don’t like never ceases to amaze me. Even here, with him losing his voice (and no wonder after his non-stop tour), the passion he puts into all his music is unmistakable Also glad it’s on The House Rules CD–every song on the CD is a winner. I’m hoping his promoters get it out there any & every way possible. There are still many who have never heard of Christian but, when they hear his music, they ask where the heck has he been!!! He’s incredibly talented & deserves the best!

I do love this song and Christian’s right, it will be a hit on the radio. It’s a great love song with great vocals. I hope he gets a lot of play time on the radio. The more people who hear him, the more they will want his music!!!

I second some of the other comments – some of my favorite performances by ANY artist are those of Christian and Steve together acoustic. They have such a unique and gripping vocal blend … it catches and holds my ear every time. The acoustic gigs really let them show that off. “The House Rules” is an awesome new release from Kane – don’t miss it!

Cant even find words to tell i much i love that!! Love the storytelling before, the great chemistry between Chris and Steve and im absolutly in love with the acoustic version! Thanks for sharing!!
(But to hear Chris like that…his voice aint the best here-not bad, hell no, just as if it hurts to sing, but i guess after all that touring and him being sick in between its a wonder that it aint worse; still great tho, gives the song a new twist.♥)

Saw video of Different Kind of Knight…this is my favorite song, surprised it’s not on the CD. Interesting to hear Christian’s story behind the song…many people actually feel the same way as he does, loved and lost, and have come to terms with being on my own is a ok, it’s who I am. White Knights don’t really exsist, but wild mustangs still roam in Oklahoma!

I love the way he is man enough to do the song where other artists might cancel bc of voice problems, he sounds hoarse but doesn’t sound off key at all. Respect, man!

This will always be Jason Michael Carroll’s song, but, since he didn’t get to release it, I’m glad Christian got to do it. Take it to #1 Chris…..that’s where this song belongs!
