Lelia Broussard is back with her new album Masquerade, produced by Dan Romer. For a handful of years, Lelia has been playing shows and releasing her own records. The hard effort and the will to not give up, after a few labels have said “no,” are starting to pay off. We feature her performance and interview throughout the week, today starting with the jangle-pop of “Satellite.”

Wow! Everyone is on their game here. Lelia is a great talent. Chris Kuffner is blowing me away on this take with his innovative approach on guitar!

Hi lelia, in my opinin, maybe add a little back round singer’s, it would enhance the pice. (P.S) I could dive in & get lost in them, your eye’s their so profound; I’m not a storker, just speaking my mind.

The 2nd guitar dragged the performance down from the first few measures of tapping quarter-notes on his guitar. I’m normally not so critical of a live cut like this, but those were pretty basic parts and nearly all of them were played with lazy rhythm and wrong notes, at the cost of distracting from everyone else’s solid playing. The gimmick with the drumstick only drew more attention to how poorly his end was executed. Otherwise the live take was very enjoyable. Fortunately music video accompanied this so we could hear it like it was meant to be heard.
