Summer Sessions: Funeral Party’s Debut Album Falls Right Into Place

It’s not too often that a band would sever ties with the label that would be releasing their debut album, but that was the case with Whittier, CA based band Funeral Party. Originally signed to Fearless Records, the band would eventually sign with RCA and release the album, around three years from when the band first started to record it.

But as I stated and the band agreed, perhaps this wasn’t a bad thing. The radio climate in 2011 is better suited for their sound. Their guitar based indie-rock dance songs blend in better with what is getting played at alternative radio in the present day. Mainly produced by Lars Stalfors, who has worked with The Mars Volta, it’s infectious hooky grooves and smart lyrics, make The Golden Age Of Knowhere one of 2011′s best albums.
