It is evident that both Company of Thieves and MONA have a strong fan base. Which is awesome! I don’t want things to get nasty. We’re all obviously doing our best to support our favorite. As has been suggested before, check out both bands and let that help you decide. It would be good to know when this poll will close as well.

Tsk Tsk Tsk! All of these delusional MONA fans!! CoT immensely owns all of the other bands here! The only reason I can think of as it why it’s not blatantly obvious to everyone here is because Gen was losing her voice in these performances. If Gen had been up to her normal standards, CoT would be winning by a landslide. No Question. If they did “In Passing” acoustic, you MONA fans would cream your pants!

That playlist is incredible. Seriously. Whoever said that “you can’t bloody hear her” needs to either get their hearing checked or watch the 1st video on that playlist, and afterwards they can help themselves to a heaping portion of humble pie. When she screamed “all about it!” I was like “woah, where did that come from?!” Haha. #3 and #12 also made my jaw drop! Gen never ceases to amaze me…is this your playlist?? If so you should consider adding this performance…

I did…they’re good, but not special. The lead singer has an awesome voice, but I’ve heard their sound many times before. Alt Nation is filthy with other bands that sound exactly them. CoT has a unique sound and their live performances leave you speechless and covered in goosebumps. I watched 4 different MONA vids hoping I would get that feeling, and it didn’t happen. Might I add that some of you MONA fans are acting ridiculously childish. Up until now I used to think Justin Beiber had the most immature fan base…

Okay I watched some MONA videos, and honestly tried hard to feel the excitement I get when listening to CoT (either live or recorded) and it just wasn’t happening. CoT is much more original, and they use their talent to make something new. The lead singer of MONA does well in his own right, but I don’t feel any of the emotion I hear when listening to CoT’s lead singer Gen. MONA is a decent band, but CoT deserves to win this more.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Matthew. I also find it funny how us CoT fans are actually willing to give MONA a shot and acknowledging the fact that they’re good, while at the same time demonstrating legitimate reasons as to why we believe CoT deserves to win, meanwhile MONA fans aren’t trying to give CoT a chance and aren’t giving any explanations at to why they feel that MONA is the better band. Instead they thumb down honest, harmless comments like yours and continue to post shallow, repetitive comments like “Boom” and “MONA!!!” Perhaps they don’t feel as strongly about their convictions as we do. Maybe there’s some cognitive dissonance going on here. As a Psychology/Sociology major I’m intrigued…

Congrats to all the bands for getting to the contest! Lots of lovely videos.
While I respect them all, my vote is for Company of Thieves. They resonate the most with me. However, I’m very pleased to see how strong of a fanbase that they and Mona both seem to have.

Ooookay so Mona fans have been called immature but the company of thieves fans have said a lot more about us.you wanted an explanation as to why we love Mona ill give you one. Iv seen the band live 4 times,me and my husband have travelled the country to see them as have a lot of Mona fans some have gone abroad for them.i didn’t see my children for 2 days and sat in a car for a total of 14 hours for a Mona gig.that is because Mona are amazing they ARE talent nick browns is pure passion that man has the most amazing voice I have ever heard and he is note and word perfect even when he’s walking along barriers and jumping in to crowds he doesn’t miss a beat. The man broke his ribs cuz he overdid it on stage but carried on singing,amazingly,as always.zach was ill and threw up whilst performing I’m pretty sure he didn’t just stop playing bass and leave the stage.watch these men live you know they are feeling every word,every note and they are loving what they are doing and they do it soo well. I’m a big foo fighters fan but Mona are better live. I/we are in love with this band.they filled shepherds bush empire but as soon as they finished playing they are out front talking to fans signing anything put in front of them posing for Sooo many photos as they do after every show even after Nick was clawed by a crazy person a few weeks ago.Mona love their fans they appreciate every single person at their shows and we love them they are just so AMAZING. I watched a couple of company of thieves videos so that I could properly comment. BORED!!! COULDN’T EVEN BLOODY HEAR HER.

Actually the negative comments from CoT fans were a reaction to people calling us idiots and such. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right….I saw where CoT wrote on MONA’s wall today to try and smooth over all the chaos that’s erupted over this competition. If the bands we admire so much are able to handle this situation maturely and civilly then why can’t we? We’re both very passionate about our bands and we both believe that our bands deserve to win. We shouldn’t see this as a “let the best band win” competition. We should see this as a “let the most dedicated fan base win” competition because that’s really what it is…

Company of thieves! I gave em a chance, let them steal my ears & they won mmy heart over. Never in a million years did i ever think i would be caught dead owning a album that was not produced by Marilyn Manson or Pantera. But COT did. Gen is AMAZING. They are AWESOME PEOPLE. They’d do anything for their fans and i’mglad we can do something good for them by showin how much we love em.For example- September 23rd 2011 they played POPPED! Music fest in Philly. 2 day fest. BUT i got sold the wrong ticket for the day they did not play, they were the reason i wanted to go. I wrote on theyre fb not expecting anythong in return or a responce, but they did. And they PERSONAL made surd i got in. They put me on their guest list & i was goin! And at a show back in July (radio 1045′s block party) in philly i seen em. I went, screamed at the top of my lungs and demanded a drumstick. Gen personaly handed it to me and laughed. The moral of this story is, they lovd us fans. I’m not doubting mova doesnt. But we need tk show COT our appreciation! I am a proud supporter and street teamer for the company of thieves! <3

I don’t think anybody needs to give an explanation on what band they like best. Can’t we just have peace? I was only sad when we were insulted. Otherwise, both bands, and all the bands here deserve the credit, and for sure they have talent. Let’s spread music and not the anger.

I am a massive Mona fan & I actually like Company of Thieves, but I will always vote for Mona. To whoever it was that said that Nick has no emotion, no passion in his voice – I’m sorry but what were you listening to? When they play Trouble on the Way acoustically or stripped back it sends shivers down my spine & a brings tear to my eye. Nick has more passion in his little finger than most other bands around today. Even when feeling his worst, he never gives less than 100%. As Kirsty said, he broke his ribs while performing – he carried on playing with an ice pack to his ribs while waiting for the ambulance to arrive so not to disappoint the fans who had paid to see them.
To whoever it was that was going on about CoT loving their fans…I dont doubt that they do. But with Mona you get a band whose fans mean EVERYTHING to them. Literally everything. I have seen them 11 times since June, and every single time (whether it be their own show, a support slot or a festival) I have spent at least half an hour with the band afterwards. They come out to greet fans, thank them, have photos taken & sign things, and they do not leave until the last fan is happy. They happily GIVE away drumsticks, picks, towels and pretty much everything else to their fans without being asked. Hell they have even given away the clothes off their backs! They appreciate their fans and everything that they do – i have just travelled nearly 2000 miles in total to see them around the UK. And there are other fans that have travelled so much more. I wouldnt do that for just anybody. I have seen a lot of bands live, and I struggle to think of another that give as much as Mona do.
Personally, I dont think the abuse from and to either fanbase is necessary… Mona fans dont take themselves too seriously…we Boom! We have the #monacult – its a bit of fun…we’re like a family

I love Mona and I gave Company of Thieves a few listens and Gen’s voice is amazing but I prefer Mona. I think both bands will appreciate their fans devotion but this sniping back and forth is pointless.It’s a poll on a website people! Now take a breath and go play your favourite songs of whichever band you love (Mona all the way

Iagreed I was at the rib breaking show, and he didn’t stop kept going. Nick has more depth and meaning than anyone I’ve ever met. Would follow them to the ends of the earth for their shows… and yes its true they will give you the clothes off of their back! Be it Ohio or London. I’m there these guys are the real thing!

For the record, CoT does ALL of those things you mentioned at their shows as well. Meet and greets after every show, signing autographs, pics, and giving away things isn’t even the tip of the iceberg. They show love to their fans not only at their shows but all the time. They respond back to 95% of the comments that fans post on their facebook wall. They’ve replied back to every single comment I’ve left them. I can recall numerous occasions where fans have wrote on their wall saying they don’t have enough money to buy tickets or they were bummed that the show sold out and CoT will ask them to email their address so they can send them tickets. Every now and then fans will tell them after a show that they didn’t play a song they wanted to hear, and they’ll perform it for them acoustically right then and there. They’ve been performing since 2006 and never cancelled a show until Gen got sick w/ mono a few months ago. At one show, a mans baby actually caught on fire! Spontaneous combustion! Everyone was freaking out and didn’t know what to do. But Marc the lead guitarist jumped off stage, stopped the fire and made a cooling balm for the baby out of a towel and random things from the bar. He saved the kid’s life! And that feeling you talk about….feeling like a family…it’s exactly the same with CoT fans. Our bands of interest may be different. But the love and devotion we feel for them is undoubtedly the same.

I’m a huge MONA fan but some of these comments are ridiculous and very immature. I’ve had a listen to Company of Thieves so I could show a little perspective on this and feel that, although they are talented, they are not the type of music I like. When I listen to any MONA song, I can relate some part of my life or how I’m feeling to the words Nick is singing. There is a richness and passion in their music that you just can’t get with any ordinary band. It had been a long time since I bought an album where I genuinely loved every track on it, until I bought theirs. MONA’s bringing Rock ‘n Roll back to life. And even though there are some MONA (and CoT) fans making silly comments, I’m still very proud to be part of the #MONAcult. Boom!

Blimey! Some of the comments have made me laugh, regardless of what band you like why are you bitching at each other? Some of the comments really are a bit primary school.
If there wasn’t diversity in the world, we wouldn’t be listening to either band, we would be overrun with the chart music (lets face it, neither Mona or CoT are topping the charts)
Just accept the differences and leave all the silly comments to children.
Also lets try not to tar all fans of a band with the same brush hey? I don’t wanna be grouped in with people making childish comments just because I happen to enjoy the same music as them.
Anyway Mona get my vote purely because I’ve had the honor of seeing them live a few times now, and they were the highlight of my year.
I’ve never heard of CoT, I checked them out, and I quite like there music, but I’m never gonna be a fan cos I just can’t seem to enjoy a female voice as much as a male vocal? But I will probably recommend them to friends who can. Whilst recommending Mona also of course.

I’ve genuinely listened to CoT and think they’re really good and i’l download their album. Glad this poll got me to listen to them but my vote still goes to MONA. They seem more passionate than CoT from what i’ve heard and have a raw edginess that I really like. Slightly embarassed after reading the comments from MONA fans but don’t let their attitude turn you off the music please.

I wish there was a one vote a day limit and we could see the number of votes I think that operating the poll like this is breeding the nasty vibe. Be fair one vote per person and keep it clean without the bashing. Art is Art everyone views it differently, and thats as it should be, Freedom of expression. We all like music for different reasons and some days its the only thing that makes sense, as it says things and puts into music, our thoughts and feelings we can even say to our closest of friends, sometimes feelings we don’t have the words for ourselves. Be nice no finger pointing if you joined in the bashing you are as guilty as the ones who start it! Alibis, a hidden track is the reason I vote MONA it means the world to me, and Lines in the Sand. Those songs say things I can’t express.

So its the last night, and COT are on 57% or something and no other bands have a hell in chance of winning. However I think this should end on the note that, MONA have just as loyal and awesome fans as COT, but the primary difference is MONA’s fans have lives and so can’t be sat for hours on end in front of a screen voting on a poll. Still, well done COT.

Most people are probably like me and vote every chance they get. I voted from home, work and school a ton of times. It’s not a fix, COT fans just stepped their game up this time.
