When Risa decided to pack up and head to New York City, her attitude was to “write songs and see where it will take her.” With the release of her debut album, her ride is beginning. Paper Heart was produced by Marshall Altman at Smoakstack Studios in Nashville, TN. Being a fan of artists like Jason Mraz, James Taylor, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum and Matt Nathanson, that gives you a dead-on hint where her album will bring you. And for those of the romantic persuasion, they have also graphed out the timeline of a couple who met on Last.fm and have now gotten married. Awww, love does exist after all.

Foo Fighters taking home a whopping five GRAMMYs is pretty frickin’ huge.

As the band accepted the award for Best Rock Performance, Dave had this to say before they dimmed the lights on him;

“To me this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of making music is what’s most important. Singing into a microphone, learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that’s the most important thing for people to do. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about sounding absolutely correct. It’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here (placing his hand on his heart) and what goes on here (pointing at his head). Long live rock `n’ roll!”

Now, I think a lot of people are confused by Dave’s comments since less than a hour later he was playing side by side with Deadmau5, a DJ/Producer that creates all of his music on the computer. Regardless, this year’s awards felt fresher than they have in years. I’m glad they paired the two on stage.

OK Go singer Damian Kulash took stunt driving lessons so he could actually be behind the wheel instead of using a professional stunt driver. The video for Needing/Getting was filmed in the desert outside Los Angeles over a four-day period, but it took four months of preparation and over one-thousand instruments to get all the shots needed. It’s definitely not your father’s way of playing music.

The band has become known for their striking videos that sometimes have nothing to do with the song, but definitely capture your attention. OK Go is nominated for a Best Short Form Music Video Grammy this year for All Is Not Lost, pairing them the band with the abstract dance troupe Pilobolus.
