Jump into the studio with us this week as Bombay Bicycle Club take over to play a handful of songs, including two from their new album A Different Kind of Fix. The band took a different road to where they recorded the album. They’ve never been away from London before, but this time they did recording sessions in Hamburg, Germany and Atlanta, GA. Jim Abbiss and Ben Allen were brought for production duties. In addition to the performance, we’ve got lead singer/guitarist Jack Steadman and drummer Suren de Saram chatting with us about the new album.Pedal This Way

Last.fm Presents recently welcomed Yuna to our studio to chat about and play songs from her brand new, self-titled album. There’s no denying the power of her sweet, subtle vocals. Yuna learned how to play the piano at the age of six, but it wasn’t until she was 19 when she picked up the guitar and started writing, that she would get real serious about music. She released her first EP in her homeland of Malaysia in 2008, and soon after was discovered on MySpace. The FADER label here in the U.S. then released her digital EP Decorate in March of last year. She worked on her debut album for the better part of 18 months, using the best producers and writers to her liking. Sessions were done in London, Los Angeles and Miami.
Yuna is joined by Bryn Roberts on keyboards for this session as they bring us three songs off the album and one song from the Decorate EP.Our Yuna Session

Preparing for Record Store Day is almost like prepping for a fantasy sports draft. In my case, I print out the list of releases being made available on that day and start to check off the ones I need to buy. I decided to hit Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ, a 30 minute or so drive from my house. Adding to the festivities of the day, Portugal. The Man, who are playing later that night at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, will play live at the store. After their 25 minute set which started at 3:00 (see the photo gallery by clicking thru) I was able to buy most of my “want-list”, as you see in the photo. I was not able to get the Coldplay single. From what I was told by a few record stores in the area, only a few were sent to each. They were pretty much gone shortly after each store opened.Portugal. The Man At Vintage Vinyl

Following the release of the new album King by O.A.R., the band hit the road for their “Extended Stay Tour“. That tour hit smaller venues, multiple nights in selected cities, and it gave the band the opportunity to get back to an intimate, energetic setting. the fun part was they explored their catalog and played in-front of their longtime hardcore fans.
When they started the process for the album, they were in-between labels. Midway through, they signed with their new home, Wind-up Records. The intimacy continued in our studio as Marc, Richard and Benj gave us a special acoustic performance, featuring three songs from King and my chat with them.
